Text based proposal
AbstractThe purpose of this proposal is to create a video installation that will concentrate on the uncertainty of life and the decisions the one makes during their life. I will create an atmosphere in which the viewer will have two different entrances to “enter the piece.” The hallways will consist of a straight/narrow barrier and a curvy/zig-zag like barrier, with a video playing on a common back wall, which brings the different atmospheres together into one.
Why?
The majority of my peers, including myself, are at a point in our lives where the choices, decisions we make will affect our lives significantly. While some will know exactly where they will be in ten years, others do not. This is a critical time as we graduate college and move on to another phase of our lives. I want to create a video installation that will relate to my personal life as well as others. I want viewers to react and connect to the constant changing in the world around each and every one of us.
Where
Video art is a fairly recent form of art. Its origins are said to begin with the use of a Sony Portapak by Nam June Paik, who video taped Pope Paul VI's procession through New York City in the fall of 1965. That same day he played these tapes back in a café across town. This event was supposedly the origins of video art. Nam June Paik was a pioneer artist in video art and installation. In the 1960’s Paik created the first multi-monitor installation and continued to create and experiment with video and installations.
With the growing use of video installation as an art form. I wish to use this new media to create a piece that will relate to my peers presently. Using video and other technologies will communicate my thoughts and ideas to viewers.

What
1. The Environment
The space will have two different entrances, which bring you down different hallways concluding at a common back wall (in a V shape form), which is displaying the video. One hallway will be a straight narrow path the other will be a curved/zig zaggy hallway. The different environments will be looking at different videos at first, once the viewer moves to the back wall then both videos will be visible. The point of having two different hallways is to evoke different emotions and thoughts about where the viewer is going and what might be coming up next.
2. The technological aspects
Within the constructed space, room will be built in to accommodate two projectors, projecting onto different sides of the back wall.
